Batesville Day & 10K Race, May 18, 2013
Batesville Day – a tradition since 1976.
The 38th Annual Batesville Day was presented by members of the greater Batesville community and included the Commonwealth’s most famous 10k race; the exciting parade; a fair with food by Plank Road Exchange/B Blues BBQ and Kona Ice - and music by the Central Virginia Blues Society featuring Batesville’s own Bluzonia and other local musicians.
Many thanks to Western Albemarle Art Class’ Gus Humphrey for this year’s T-Shirt design.
Highlights of Batesville Day 2013.
The legendary race.
The small but mighty parade with fire trucks, the rescue squad, lots of people with umbrellas, the tractor and the grandkids,
• our Grand Marshall, Ruth Chiles, and
• best in show North Branch School.
The community fair in the field that refused to wash away - with good food, free books for kids donated by Friends of the JMRL, plants, community activities, and the Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA dogs.
Thanks to our 2013 sponsors – ACAC, Old Dominion National Bank, Pippin Hill Farm and vineyards, Plank Road Exchange, Dr. Ho’s Humble Pie, Ragged Mountain Running Shop, Savvy Rest, Ali Thompson-Triplett for the use of the field, and Charlie Sipe and Carrington Construction for providing the flat bed stage.
Join us next year.
Rain or shine - it will be fine.
